Swinging from the trees, to a dip in the lake

Need something for the whole family to enjoy not too far away from your lodge?

Nestled on the shores on Windermere, Brockhole visitor centre has a little something for everyone. With a bit of planning and prior booking you can wear out children and adults alike on their Tree Top Trek adventure ropes. A zip wire hurtling towards Lake Windermere is an opportunity not to be missed!

They have a great playground for older children, as well as crazy golf and a nature trail. In the kitchen garden you will often see the gardeners working away carefully tending to the crops.     Why not bring a picnic and take in the views, whilst the kids play on the grass here:

Down by the lake, you can hire boats and kayaks or take part in one of the wild swimming lessons that happen over summer. There is also bike hire so that you can explore more of what Brockhole can offer.

One of the cruises also docks at Brockhole to take people across to another lovely attraction called Wray Castle, so you can truly make a full day of it both sides of the lake.

If you are lucky to visit us sometime soon, you will also tick another Herdwick off your Herdwick Trail list ran by Calvert Trust

Inside you can learn all about Cumbria’s rich history, whilst the younger children play in the soft play area. Then you can grab yourself a great Panini in the café made with as much locally sourced produce as they can find. A great way to spend the day, and you can even pick yourself up some Kendal Mint Cake liqueur or a Herdy mug in the gift shop on your way out.
